Captain's Blog - August

Bye, Bye July!

What a wonderful month of July we had aboard the Volunteer Princess. This past month brought a lot of rain to the area and while I do love it when the water is up, I also hate it because of all the logs that get washed off the shore and into the channel. I am happy to report though that both propellers are in great shape (knock on wood).

July was birthday month on board the Volunteer Princess. Not only did I celebrate my 25th birthday in July, we also held parties for Brandon O'Connor's 25th Birthday, Savannah Long's Sweet Sixteen, and a special suprise birthday party for John Minichan. We also had a fabulous wedding on board for Volunteer Landing Marina's own, Mark & Susanne Dekay. The Dekay's were married on board as we cruised up the Tennessee River to where the three rivers meet (French Broad, Holston, & Tennessee). We also had an after Wedding Brunch celebration for the newlywed's Jim and Angie Webb.

Public cruises were also a hit during July. We held our second annual Fourth of July cruise and also introduced a new cruise, Margaritaville Monday, which was a blast. Be on the look out for more information about this cruise in the next couple months.

We sure are lucky to have such great clients. A special thanks goes out to all of you that joined us during the month of July.

Fall is Here!

What a busy month of September we had aboard the Volunteer Princess. The weather was perfect, and the parties were unforgettable. September started off with Courtney and Dustin Antrican's wedding reception. The happy couple were married at Crescent Bend with the Volunteer Princess docked on site. After a brief ceremony, all of their guests boarded the yacht for a fantastic reception. A couple days later, Alison and Dustin Thomas held their wedding on board. We wrapped up the weekend with a bang by celebrating Boomsday on board. Boomsday was held on my one year anniversary, and while my wife Nikki and I had to work on our anniversary, it was a spectacular night to do so.

September also was a hit for several corporate clients of ours. The Heart and Lung Vascular Institute at UT Medical Center held a great event on board with special guest Coach Johnny Majors. Blue Cross Blue Shield also held a special event on board. For the third year in a row, Ernst and Young held their Intern event cruise.

September was also birthday month on board the Volunteer Princess. We held parties for Kelli Drake's father, Susan Dickey suprised her husband Joe, and our very own Kimberly Minix held a great party for her daughter's Sierra and Holly.

We sure are lucky to have such great clients. A special thanks goes out to all of you that joined us during the month of September.
